I’ve got a secret which I don’t generally talk about it because I do believe that it’s one of those things that you really need to experience for yourself. It provides me with a safe haven from the manic outside world, nurtures me and allows me to just be me. I’m always left so calm and relaxed.
I’m talking about meditation. No, it’s not something for just hippy vegetarians but actually, for me, is a great source of strength and energy. Once a week, I settle down onto a pure white square of cotton in the same corner of the room and make sure that the phone is off the hook, so there is nothing to disturb the tranquillity. I put some Organic Blue Meditation Oil in the room vaporiser and sense the serenity of sandalwood and frankincense aroma as I sit comfortably with my eyes gently closed. Dozens of thoughts and worries cross my mind, but as I focus on the rhythm of my breathing, I manage to slowly still my mind. I experience a delicious state of no worries and completely just being myself with no-one to judge me. It’s not even a state where I’m trying to think and resolve things, but just a period of stillness and calm.
This is my private time that no-one can take from me. Call me crazy, but I think that you are the crazy one if you don’t have this time to be just you. Anyone can do it and it’s just there to be done. Those worries about work, relationships (and even my hair) just seem to melt away. That’s my secret, or at least one of them anyway…
